You ought to go Hands Free to keep out of harm’s way on our roads!

Hand Held Mobile Phones Can Drive You To The Grave!
Cold Hard Fact or Myth? (excuse the pun there)
What the heck do you believe these days?
Below are some comments from Wikipedia on “Hands Free“. I have interlaced them with my personal opinion. See if you concur!

“Driving while using a hands-free device is not safer than using a hand held cell phone, as concluded by case-crossover studies”.
Yeah Right! If you agree with this then you have at least four arms furthermore you are bordering on being an octopus or octopussy depending on your gender.

“The increased “cognitive workload” involved in holding a chat, not the use of hands, causes the amplified risk”.
At least I agree with half the proclamation. Sort of like seeing a ‘babe’ or ‘hunk’ on the sidewalk and trying not to be psychologically side tracked.

“One notable omission to that conclusion is a report by headset producer Plantronics, which found 71 percent of the test subjects steered more precisely, 100 percent had quicker brake reaction times, and 92 percent maintained a more steady speed when using a headset versus handheld”.
Clearly! How can you quarrel with evidence from a study by the manufacturer of a hands free device! If you are a conspiracy thinker, prejudiced they might sound taking into account the source but actually I AGREE! (in general).

“The consistency of increased crash danger between hands-free and hand held cell phone use is at odds with legislation in lots of locations that prohibit hand held  cell phone use but allows hands-free”.
I presume I identify what they are saying!!!!
Do I really care! What on earth happened to
good old commonsense? Here’s a thought! Get a Hands Free Car Kit!

“Dialing a cell phone is more distracting than talking
on a mobile phone, and hands-free devices that offer voice-dialing may
diminish or do away with that
amplified risk”.
Commonsense again I feel but isn’t it astounding how millions of dollars
internationally are sunk into commissioned studies where a vast percentage of findings turn out to be founded on common sense.
Have you lost your marbles?”

The unfortunate reality is that, of all who have ventured without calamity in this domain, there will always be a sizeable number who will declare that their ability to multi-task will at all times permit them to utilize and control a mobile phone devoid of any loss of cognitive or physical ability. What is more entertaining is that of that number  I imagine at least 50% will be male! Male’s multi-tasking? (Might want the Mythbusters here)
You of the feminine gender take heed. “We will rule the globe once again….. eventually! …..one day!”

Those of us who drive identify that there are countless distractions and regrettably for some a minimal distraction has lead to disaster. Was it a cell phone? Was it a visual interruption? Or was it a dropped Compact disk into the passengers foot well that simply had to be retrieved and played ‘cos it had the badest song in the world on it’?

If you are barreling down the highway in a ton of shimmering metal on your own, no cars in view, no lampposts, no girls in bikinis (this is typically a male thing),  then who cares what you do?

The reality is uncomplicated. In a world where we actually still claim that we care about our fellow man (aka person cos we are required to be politically correct you know!) we ought to draw on what is usually known as commonsense.
YES! at 5 km/hr maybe even 10km/hr we can manage practically anything (even us guys) but at normal speeds most of us are not uncommonly talented. However, We will still battle for our rights to make our own decisions. We will not let ‘BIG BROTHER’ person (whatever) govern our lives. But unfortunately in some cases we truly need to stand back and ask ourselves. Was I still in absolute control when that s.o.b. veered into my traffic lane at speed on a jam packed motorway? Did I truly become aware of that youngster walking out from behind that car now that I see her in my rear vision mirror?
Some legislation is rational even if it does strip away a modicum of our invincible shell.

If you still think you are invincible then have a thought for the rest of us. ‘GO HANDSFREE’ and save some one else’s woe!

Summary: Mobile Phones (aka cell phones) are a brilliant technological DISTRACTION when driving. BUT! Now that that’s sorted let’s target the nastiest culprit of all ‘THE DRIVING TEXTER’

Reverse Phone Number Look Up - What is the difference between landline phone and cell phone?

Sometimes you may want to run a reverse phone look up to get the information about a cell phone number’s owner, such as name, address, etc. Of cause it is better to get this information for free. But, in reality, sometimes you can get it for free, but sometimes you can’t.

In a reverse phone number look up , if the number belongs to a landline phone , then it is very likely you can get the information for free . But if it is a cell phone number, then it is very likely you can’t get it for free . Why?

Because the landline phone owner’s information is public information. People can get those information by going to some phone number directories, such as white pages or some web sites. When you sign up for a landline phone (such as your home phone) , the phone company will always ask if you want to remove your information from the public directory by paying an extra fee. Most likely you will say “no” in order to save money . Therefore, the public directory will include your private information. When people run a reverse phone look up by entering your phone number into a phone directory, they will find it for free.

If you are signing up for a cell phone, the cell phone company won’t put your information in the public phone directory. But this doesn’t mean it will keep your information as a secret. It may sell your information to other reverse cell phone search companies, which provide provide paid services to the public. Your information is still listed in some directories. Others can’t find your information in the free public phone lists even if they have your cell phone number. They need to pay the fee to run a reverse cell phone number lookup in order to get the information .

Sony Ericsson Z520a

Sony Ericsson Z520a is a clear example of what a good deal could mean for a buyer interested in quality communications. Surprisingly, the elements that attract most in the design are the light effects. One of the company’s logos is ‘Light up your world’ so you can imagine that one of the phone’s special characteristics is its system of lighting up. The light effects will be mostly noticed when there is an incoming call or an unread message waiting in the inbox. Sony Erricson Z520a makes it possible to attach photos for every contact, and the caller will be identified before your opening the phone.

Due to such eye-catching features, the mobile phones market has grown larger. Besides the fact that you can visualize the picture, hear the sound and see the pattern of lights for a certain contact, a smart characteristic of Sony Ericsson Z520a is that it allows you to see who is calling before you actually open the phone since the picture is displayed on the external screen.

You can even take Sony Ericsson Z520a as a funny lightweight toy you can enjoy every day. It may appear a bit thicker than other phones, but explanation is in its fold structure. Once you unfold it, you will see that looks get a lot thinner. The screen has a resolution of 128×160 pixels and it uses the new TFT technology (Thin Film Transistor) which makes the display rely on liquid crystals much like in the LCD technology. In case you care about the color choice, then you should know that there are three colors that it comes in: new blue, chalky white and sandy gray. Whichever of the three you choose, the phone will look pretty elegant in your hand.

The buyer could also be interest in the battery performance of Sony Ericsson Z520a. The producer brags that the phone offers 16 MB memory, yet the free memory in reality may be much less than that depending on how the phone has been configured. The battery may last up to 9 hours talk time and around 400 hours standby time. Of course, many more features of Sony Erricson Z520a, like camera, music, connectivity, messaging, Internet, organizer, communication, and so on, can be checked out by simply accessing the Sony Ericsson web site or any other site that sells this type of phone and automatically advertises it.

Other Uses for a Mobile Phone Besides Telephone Calls!

The phenomenon that is the mobile phone is picking up pace every year.  It is hard to believe that the first mobile phones, certainly in terms of today’s models, were around in the 1970s.   Many people only remember as far back as the 1980s, when the mobile phone was the size of a brick! The mobiles of today are predominantly based on the earlier models from the 1970s onwards.

Early phones were exclusively used to make telephone calls, unlike their technologically advanced equivalents today. It could be said that whilst the older generation are intent on using the handsets just to make calls, the new generation are keen on the variety of applications available.

Not only can you make calls in the UK and around the globe, mobile phones can perform a whole variety of applications. A common function used is text messaging. Predictive text is frequently used and the more astute people can do it with their eyes shut! It gives us a new way to communicate and can be likened to the other growing trend of messaging on the internet. It is approximated the mobile phone users send a staggering 8 billion texts every day. Amazingly, more than 8 billion texts are sent from phones each day.

Other uses for mobile phones include checking football scores, taking photographs, sending pictures or recording video, listening to music and surfing the internet. Providers of handsets are coming up with even more ways for their products to be beneficial for current clients and those potential clients of the future. Modern phones are leading the way in terms of technology; many of them can help users to locate a restaurant or petrol station, be used as a GPS tracking device or help to work out the amount to tip a waitress.

It is normal for people to customise their handset to their own tastes. It is common practise, certainly among younger people, to apply a free ringtone or free theme to a mobile phone; this is a fantastic way to show off their own style. You will find a variety of places where you can download free themes and free ringtones. Some phones have these features available on the handset itself; otherwise it is possible to download them from other sources. There are a lot of different free themes and free ringtones to choose and it is certain that you will find one that you like very simply. These are just a few ways to make your phone more fun and enjoyable to use.

There is a wealth of package deals to choose from once you have bought your handset. Pay-as-you-go is one package you can get for your handset; top-ups can be made by using a shop, your phone itself, contacting your phone provider or using online facilities. Alternatively you can get a monthly contract for your handset which means you pay a set fee each month. You will find a lot of the packages you can get for your handset will offer items including free music downloads, free texts or free calls; the hope is that it encourages users to make use of their mobile in other ways apart from phoning.

Owning a mobile phone is truly exciting nowadays; the handsets come in a variety of colours, patterns, sizes and shapes. And there is no need to carry brick sized handsets around anymore as many of the newer mobile are designed to be petite and pocket sized. As there are more and more mobile phone providers starting business, existing providers are keen to keep customers by employing the most progressive technology to keep their mobile phones edgy and exciting.

How The Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin Came About

Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin

The military has given the world many of its finest products for use in the private sector. At one time, the Hummer was solely a military vehicle but it has crossed over now into many citizens’ driveways. Military technology is often top of the line and with good reason. It has to be in order to save troop’s lives and allow them to function and complete their missions properly. Courtesy of the military, Aliph has given us the Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin.

The trademark technology that Aliph has patented for its Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin is the Voice Activity Sensor, or VAS. This technology is advanced enough so that the Jawbone 2 actually “feels” your speech and sets it apart from any noise that may be in the background. Even if you are in a crowded bar or driving with the windows down, your voice is going to be delivered with crystal clear clarity. You will not find this technology with any other manufacturer.

Now on to the NoiseAssassin portion of the Jawbone 2. The NoiseAssassin is actually part of the Voice Activity Sensor. It was developed through military research for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) so that background noise would be eliminated from the conversation. As mentioned above, the Voice Activity Sensor works by enhancing your voice. The NoiseAssassin uses Digital Signal Processing algorithms to feel the speech vibrations from your jaw. It also works to eliminate background noise from the other person’s end to give you clear sound when you are listening to someone speak.

If you are worried about having a bulky Bluetooth headset, you do not have to worry about it any longer. The Jawbone 2 with NoiseAssassin is very sleek and streamlined. Even the buttons to adjust the caller volume are “invisible” so you have a headset that looks just as great as it functions. And it comes with several different ear pieces so you get the correct fit. That is a great addition considering that not all ear shapes are alike and some of the other Bluetooth headsets can cause discomfort.

Considering all that you get with the Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin, you could expect to pay well over $200 but you can actually find it for less than $100 if you shop around. Plus the Jawbone 2 with NoiseAssassin comes with a year long warranty so if it breaks or a feature does not work, you can either get it replaced or get your money back.

Taking The Benefit Of Motorola HS850 Bluetooth Headset

Motorola HS850 Bluetooth headset review

There are many professions that require you to be on the phone for large amounts of time. It is not just call centers. Sales people and business people need to be available all throughout the day. So what happens if you are driving or you have your hands busy? That is where a Bluetooth headset comes into play. It allows you to still make and take a call but without the necessity of holding a phone to your ear. If this is your life, then you need to check out the Motorola HS850 Bluetooth Headset.

One issue that has plagued many Bluetooth accessory and headset manufacturers is battery life. Many headsets on the market top off at four hours talk time but that is not the case with the Motorola HS850 Bluetooth Headset. These headsets offer eight hours of talk time and nearly double that on stand-by. You may not need that much battery life but it never hurts to have it just in case you do need it.

Another aspect that users find quite nice about the HS850 is the fact that it reduces background noise. So you can be driving with the window down and still be able to communicate back and forth with your caller. Motorola has also taken care of the on/off ability by creating a headset that turns on when you flip the microphone boom down and turns off when you flip it up. This helps conserve that battery life mentioned previously.

There is one technical detail that you definitely need to pay attention to though and that is the technology that it supports. The HS850 only supports Bluetooth 1.1 and 1.2 compliant devices. With so many new phones coming out on the market that are Bluetooth 2.0 capable, you might find yourself with a phone and a headset that are not compliant with each other. Before you buy the headset, make sure your phone can support it.

When it comes time to purchase the Motorola HS850 Bluetooth Headset you are going to find a wide variation in prices. Amazon.com has it listed for $35.50 but ANTOnline will charge you $89.49. That is a definite price difference. And you can definitely expect to pay more for this device in a cellphone store unless the store is having a sale. Yet regardless of where you buy it, it is definitely worth the price.

Sony Phones

Cell phones definitely have difficult names to remember, and each company uses a specific denomination for its products. Sony Ericsson items for instance rely on a combination of letters and figures as a name for their mobiles. In an example like K750i, the capital letter represents the series of the Sony phones, while the remaining characters have each an attached meaning. Then, the next figure represents the subcategory, the third defines progression from the last released item while the final character is either an 8 or a 0. The closing specifications also tell something about Sony phones.

The 8 or 0, for instance, refer to the features of the products in relation to the market it was produced for. Or, a number can set apart Sony phones that have identical technical features but different designs. The lowercase letter designates the market for which the Sony phones models are produced: thus, there will be ‘a’ for the America, ‘c’ for China and ‘i’ for the international market. In case the name of the product includes an ‘im’ particle, then, this will refer to the i-mode branding.

This is not the only way of naming Sony phones, since modern formats or design rely on a pattern made of three characters such as the P1i for instance. The series of the phone is represented by the initial, the number tells the development from previous models while the lowercase letter indicates the market. Code names are also attributed to Sony phones particularly to those that are in the process of development or improvement. Most such names are inspired by the female tennis player for which Sony Ericsson is a sponsor. You can find lists with such code names on all sorts of web pages if you are interested in the topic.

Although lots of people would find it a lot easier to understand the differences between various Sony phones just by looking at their names, many buyers don’t know how to interpret such information. Retailers usually have extensive lines of Sony phones from various generations, and buyers can select according to price tags and designs. In fact, these are also the elements that producers work on when releasing a new model, even if technical superiority is also touched upon.

Sony Ericsson W800i

Sony Ericsson W800i opened the Walkman brand series produced by the company, preparing the market for a different kind of product. The new modern design brought Bluetooth features, the Infrared and USB connectivity, all incorporated in a very trendy look. This phone model was released in 2005, and although lots of new features were added to more modern phones ever since, Sony Ericsson W800i is the one that started it all. The external memory has only 2 gigabytes of storage, but in the context when it was produced, the outcome was a success. For that moment in particular, such memory size is considerable.

There are video recording features incorporated in the Sony Ericsson W800i, the camera has an autofocus and a flash. Moreover, the playback time for the device when operated in the music mode is of thirty hours which definitely means a lot if we consider the life extent of modern batteries. In fact, you don’t have to recharge the battery of Sony Ericsson W800i too often if you are a moderate user that keeps the phone on standby for a serious amount of time. The producer indicates a 400-hour functional battery for standby and a 9-hour period for talk-time. Sony Ericsson W800i is still available with many retailers, and at more accessible prices than a year or two ago.

The main criticism for Sony Ericsson W800i is the fact that memory navigation is possible only by joystick use. Lots of users say that the joystick can easily get damaged or lose its functionality in time. Sony Ericsson W800i can be also very prone to wearing, scratching and minor breaks in time particularly if it is not treated carefully. Complaints have been made about the fact that very often dust gets inside the display and blurs visibility. Yet, such inconveniences are pretty rare and have not prevented Sony Erricsson W800i from making great sales.

The Chinese imitation known as Music Mobile W800c is the fake variant of Sony Ericsson W800i. The similarity with the Sony product is striking, and it is doubtless that the producers took more than simple inspiration from the W800i series. The reliability of this fake item are doubtful and the features are definitely inferior to the original Sony Ericsson W800i. Should you see this item while searching for a good mobile, it is advisable to consider more than just the price tag before getting it. Otherwise, you risk wasting money on a poor mobile device that can fail you any moment!

Your Mobile Phone-What Does it Say About You?

Almost everyone in the world owns at least one mobile phone. Recent calculations suggest that there are approximately 2.7 billion mobile phones used everyday. They come in all shapes, sizes, colours, styles and with differing functions. But what does your mobile phone say about you? What are the most popular brands and who favours them most?

Research seems to suggest that the type of mobile you purchase tells other people a lot about your traits. For instance, those people who could be perceived as “geeks” must have the most modern mobile out there, so that they can fiddle with all of the gadgets and accessories that come with the latest models. Price is not important; these models are on par with owning the latest portable music players and games consoles! Similarly, those who like to party at the weekend will have a dependable and sturdy handset- something that can withstand being dropped whilst dancing in a nightclub. For those who love fashion, it is likely that they will choose a mobile phone which has interchangeable fascias; this means that they will look the part wherever they go. It is also likely that this type of personality will want a mobile phone that allows for free ringtones and free themes so that their handset can be altered to match their clothes and mood.

These and other personality traits supposedly reflect the kind of phone that you will own. So does the brand that you buy depend upon your personality too? – well the answer to this is yes! Research indicates that mums prefer the LG mobiles; managers with families opt for Nokias and the under 24 age group insist on owning a Motorola branded phone. All of this study suggests that different personalities are attracted to different types of mobiles.

As mobiles become more advanced it appears that we are more concerned about what our mobile says about us as an individual. It essentially does not matter which provider you are with; the main concern is what other people see when they look at your mobile phone. This may certainly be the case for the younger generations. They want an modern mobile that has a huge amount of functions. The many uses of a modern mobile including playing games, taking photographs, downloading free ringtones & free themes and listening to music are all important to the modern generation; this means that it is essential that they have the right handset. purchasing the right type of mobile phone that has the facility to download free themes and free ringtones, play music and access the internet, is of vital importance to teenagers and those in their early twenties.
